Since Sony unveiled the new PlayStation 5, many gamers who already own the PSVR have wondered if VR headset works on the new console. Sony confirmed in the middle of the year that PSVR is compatible with PS5 after making a slight adjustment to the headset's camera. Keep in mind that VR headset only works on PS4 camera, and is not compatible with PS5 HD camera. To be able to use VR on PS5, you will need to get an adapter.
The good news is that you can get the adapter for free! All you need to do is fill out an online form on the official PlayStation website following this link. Just enter your PSVR processor unit serial number (see right side picture) which begins with the letters C, M or P, first name, last name, email address, shipping address and phone number.
Also, all VR games for PlayStation 4 are compatible with PlayStation 5 among many other games.
We expect Sony will disclose a new Virtual reality headset around 2022 with better features such as improved resolution, refresh rate and practicability that can take advantage of the new powerful PlayStation 5 hardware.
